Driver Shaft Adapter Guide: Will It Fit My Driver?
The short answer: adapters are brand-specific, and sometimes generation-specific. Here's how to make sure your new shaft fits the first time.
How adjustable driver adapters work
An adjustable driver has a sleeve (the adapter) glued to the tip of the shaft. It screws into the clubhead and lets you change loft or lie. Almost every driver and fairway wood shaft uses a .335" tip, but the sleeve on the outside is shaped for one brand's hosel. A TaylorMade adapter won't fit a Callaway head, and vice versa.
Step 1: Check the model on the sole
Don't stop at the brand. Look at the model name stamped on the sole or crown of your driver. Brands occasionally change their sleeve design, and a shaft built for an older generation may not fit a newer head.
Step 2: Match your brand
- TaylorMade: modern adjustable TaylorMade drivers (M-series, SIM, Stealth and Qi families) share one sleeve design. Very early adjustable models can differ.
- Callaway: uses its OptiFit sleeve. Most recent drivers share a version, but Callaway has changed generations, so check your model.
- Titleist: SureFit adapters have stayed broadly compatible across many generations.
- Ping: G410 and newer drivers use a different sleeve than G400 and older. Tell us your exact model.
- Cobra: 2025+ DS-ADAPT drivers use a new sleeve that isn't compatible with older Cobra models (F9 through Darkspeed). We stock both, so choose "Cobra King DS Adapt" for DS-ADAPT heads.
- PXG: choose the PXG option and include your model in the order notes.
Fairway woods and hybrids
Fairway woods generally use the same sleeve as the driver from the same family. Hybrids are different: they use a wider .370" tip and a separate hybrid adapter, so a driver shaft can't go in a hybrid.
